KENNETH LONG; Zen discipline has nothing to do with control, obedience, rules or punishment. It has to do with the cultivation of awareness and sensitivity, which are critical in the practice of any art. Above all, Zen discipline means complete openess to what is and the ability to be totally inmersed in what one is doing.
Presence ~ Refers to a person's ability to be fully aware, of what is going on within
the self and in the environment.
Ordinariness ~ The ability to transform something that is ordinary and familiar
into something wonderful is an unmistakable trait of art.
